Preface

Welcome to the world of Integral! The fact that you have picked up this book means that you are ready to begin not just thinking about Integral but practicing and applying it as well.

This is a truly momentous occasion, to judge from the developmental research itself.

Developmental models are in general agreement that human beings, form birth, go through a series of stages or waves of growth and development.

The lower, earlier, junior stages are initial, partial, and fragmented views of the world, whereas the upper stages are integrated, comprehensive, and genuinely holistic.

Because of this, the earlier stages are often called “first tier,” and the higher stages are called “second tier.”

The difference between the two tiers is truly profound.

As pioneering developmental researcher Clare Graves put it, with second tier an individual “goes through a momentous leap of meaning.”

That leap is what Integral is all about – Integral Thinking and – yes – Integral Practice.

At the Integral stages of development, the entire universe starts to make sense, to hang together, to actually appear as a uni-verse- a “one world”- a single, unified, integrated world, but different practices for growth and development as well.

wedding ceremony

I attended a wedding ceremony for my friends yesterday.

I have known bride and groom since my university days.

I was very moved and very happy because I brought together him and her.

Yes, I’m a Love Cupid. Ha-ha.

I hope that they share a long and happy life together.

recommendation letter

Today, I received a recommendation letter from my friend.

Yes, I need two recommendation letters in order to submit to administration office.

The one is from my manager and the other is my friend

Actually, I asked my professor who taught me in my university’s seminar but he already retired and now he is in the employ of the Japanese government

He said “I’m so sorry I already retired and now I work in the government office. Considering my position, I can’t write it.”

I was reluctant to understand what he said…

Instead of my professor, one of my friend who graduated from same university and have known me very well agreed to write it for me!!

I appreciate him.

How to apply integral theory to the real world?

How should I connect my professional area with Integral Theory or Integral Psychology?

I think about this question everyday.

You know, my professional area is business. So, I’d like to apply integral knowledge to the business world.

However, I don’t know how to do it…..

If you have any nice idea or advice, please tell me!!

Following is my idea which I’m still thinking about.

For example, to enhance team consciousness level, to manage a company effectively.

Umm…, integral coaching for CEO may be pretty good.

About me

I’ll introduce myself briefly. I was born in Tokyo, Japan and I lived there for 7 years. And then I moved to Yamaguchi-prefecture in the east Japan and lived there for 11 years.

After my high school, I entered Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo and majored in business administration, especially accounting.

After graduation, I have worked in one of the biggest accounting firm all over the world as an international tax consultant.

This year is the second year for me as a consultant.

I will retire my company in the end of this March and I'm going to study MA Integral Psychology at John F Kennedy University in Spring term.

Please feel free to comment and contact!

From today

I’ll start writing English from today, because I’d like to improve my writing skill to study in America. In addition, I wish to publish my book in English in the future.

So, I’ll write my everyday life, my thought, my idea or my experience.
